Lazy lazy

Completely forgetting about this blog, I have decided to revisit it this summer. There is a lot to talk about this summer and I have had multiple requests to post pictures of my travels: Alaska, Las Vegas, and Costa Rica. Well, fear not! I shall update this more efficiently this summer. I am certain!

Classes have ended for spring semester and I just started an online course today... Western Civilization. Should be fun? Plans for the rest of the week include packing up my apartment and bedroom for my roommates to move in late June because I will be busy sampling lakes in the ARCTIC CIRCLE!

So you have me here, writing and letting you know what's going on in North Carolina until June 20th. Then I set forth on a crazy journey to Alaska until the end of July. For my 21st birthday this year I will spend it with family in Las Vegas (yeahhhh baby) and then immediately following the celebrations I will board a plane to spend 10 days in Tortuguero, Costa Rica.

the start of the season

I sit in a coffee shop down the road from my apartment taking a break from studying for finals. I've been trying to write more religiously in here as a creative outlet, even though I don't think of myself very creative verbally.

If you're looking for meditation music or just some new music to give your ears a try, I went to a show yesterday on Tate Street sponsered by the campus radio station and it featured Andrew Weathers. He is a local ambient guitar player and I didn't really know what to expect at the show. The show was in this small book and art shop that I had never stepped foot into since I've been here for the past 2 and a half years. We sat on the floor on cushions and against the wall listening to Andrew make sounds with the help of his computer and keyboard. It was really cool music. Things I like about this season:
-warm things to eat and drink...chamomile tea and chai
-hats and scarves
-christmas lights on elam
-being warm inside
-fireplaces
-the nearness of not having to go to school until january 20th
-spending time with my family at home
-attempting to cook and bake new things
-and recently, hanging out in coffee shops and venturing out on my own

living life

I just got off the "skype" with my friend Jesse who's studying abroad in Japan this semester and next. It was so good to talk to her, and so weird at the same time because we are totally on the opposite sides of the Earth. It was very encouraging because I can sometimes get caught up in my own little world...here in Greensboro. It made me reflect on my time in Spain this summer, which is always good because I don't ever want that time to be something I blow off and forget. Thank you Jesse for showing me your side of the world. We're so small, our world's so big, but God's even bigger and He is always with us. Isn't it cool that He is so big He holds the universe, but so intimate that He knows the hearts of each and everyone of us?

Update: I'M GOING TO COSTA RICA THIS SUMMER! I got accepted into the biology course! We will be spending about 10 days in Costa Rica at a field station with the Sea Turtles down there! I'm so excited! Spring semester we will be taking field trips to Topsail Island and the North Carolina coast to help at the rehabilitation hospital there. I can't wait!

Pretty much everything in my life is due on Friday, so I have tons and tons of work to do this week. Last day of classes is next Monday, so we're almost finished! I just have to do a lot of work and concentrate on doing really well. Wish me luck!
